I’m sitting at my laptop proper now, with sweat actually protecting my face. It is just not cooling off shortly tonight. And this morning began fairly heat, with a really excessive low temperature.
There is a motive.
We begin with heat air over us at this time, with highs moving into the mid-80s round Puget Sound, 90s within the south Sound and SW Washington and into the low 100s in jap Washington (click on on picture to develop). Warm air related to an higher ridge.
Each day we now have gotten hotter, each for our highs and low (see temperatures at Sea Tac under)
But one thing else has been taking place that has taken away the crisp, refreshing really feel of some days in the past, leaving us sweating tonight…the moisture within the air has elevated, as measured by the dew level temperature. The greater the dew level temperature, the extra moisture within the air. Here is a plot of the dew level at Sea Tac Airport the previous couple of days–major shift upwards from round 50 to 60F. You can really feel that. More moisture means evaporation on our pores and skin is much less efficient.
The winds have additionally declined and wind helps pull warmth away from our pores and skin and promotes evaporative cooling.
But in comparison with the jap U.S. we now have little to complain about. Dew factors are within the mid-70s (at 5 PM) over the SE quarter of the U.S. Very sticky–no surprise of us there are taking their probabilities in air conditioned areas.
Tomorrow will likely be a bit cooler after which a lot cooler on Wednesday as marine air pushes in.
